Super Tot I (3-5 years old w/o
parent): Water safety, beginning swimming skills, fitness,
and endurance skills stress "I can do it!" to improve skills and
self-confidence. Combine games and structured class.

Super Tot II
(3-5 years old w/o parent): Water safety and skills such as
front float, back float, jumping in, and underwater exploration.
Some class time will be spent in the large pool in order to
prepare them to enter the progressive swim level program. (30
minutes)
Novice (4-5 years old): Swims front crawl with face in the
water and back floats unassisted a width of the small pool.
Instructor recommendation required. This class will better
prepare the preschooler for the progressive swim level program
Level 2 or 3. A swimmer will continue in Novice until the
age of 6 years. (30 minutes)
Progressive Swim Program
Classes
Level 1 (Intro to Water
Skills): The objective of Level 1 is to help students feel
comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely.
Designed for students with fear of the water or who hesitate to
put their face in the water. (45 minutes)
Level 2 (Fundamental Aquatic
Skills): The objective of level 2 is to give students
success with fundamental skills. Students learn to float
without support and to recover to a vertical position.
This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills and
adds to the self-help and basic rescue skills begun in level 1.

Level 3 (Stroke Development):
The objective of level 3 is to build on with practice in deeper
water. Swimmers learn to coordinate the front crawl and
elementary backstroke. Also covered are rules
for safe diving and learning to dive from the side of the pool
in the deep end. Additional safety skills are covered (45
minutes)
Level 4-Red (Stroke Improvement): The objective of level
4-red is to develop confidence in previously learned strokes and
increase endurance. This level concentrates on front crawl
and elementary backstroke. Introduces back crawl and
sidestroke.
(45 minutes)
Level 4-Blue (Stroke
Improvement continued): The objectives are the same as Level
4-Red. This level strives to coordinate sidestroke and
introduces breaststroke and butterfly. Endurance work continues to
increase. (45 minutes)
Level 5 (Stroke Refinement):
The objective of Level 5 is coordination and refinement of key
strokes and building endurance. Introduction of flip turns
and surface dives. Key strokes include
front and back crawl, butterfly, elementary backstroke,
breaststroke and sidestroke. (45 minutes)
Level 6 (Swimming Skills &
Proficiency): The objective of Level 6 is to polish the
strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power,
and smoothness over greater distances plus choose from a menu of
Personal Water Safety and Fitness Swimmer.
These options focus on preparing the student to participate in
more advanced courses such as Lifeguard Training and to help
build a strong aquatic background for the future. (See

Personal
Water Safety/Water Safety Today - To provide individuals with general water
safety info in order to create an awareness of causes and
prevention of water accidents, to develop a desire to be
safe and to encourage healthy and safe water recreation.
Fitness
Swimming- The purpose of this class is to teach
participants how to use swim aids to build arm and leg
strength, to learn more advanced aspects of competitive
swimming, build more endurance, and instill a lifelong
desire for aquatic fitness.
Special Classes
Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
Aide Certification: Materials and Certification
fee=$5.00 or $45.00 if nonmember. Another aquatic
challenge and certification that will teach you to be a more
effective aide to a WSI. Your training will include
this orientation and being an aide for each one of these
classes: MASA preschool though ARC Level 5. This aide
class will help you develop a "photographic eye" necessary
for a good teacher, as well as gain experience working with
kids at all swimming levels.
